“As educators we have a responsibility to ALL young people, and our colleagues at Olive Academies have taught us how to become more inclusive. They have highly experienced, committed leaders and staff who support some of the most vulnerable young people to achieve and succeed in society – we are fortunate to be able learn from such outstanding practitioners. It has been some of the best CPD we have had and we value the opportunity of working closely with Olive Academies’ staff and pupils.”
Olive Academies is a multi-academy trust approved by the Department for Education.
Established in 2013, it is one of the first academy sponsors specialising in alternative provision in England.
Our aim is to transform the lives of children and young people for whom traditional teaching methods have not worked.
Olive Academies was formed by a group of educational leaders determined to create enriching opportunities for young people struggling to succeed in education.
Its principal aims are to encourage students, many of whom live in deprived communities, to develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to believe that they can be successful in their own lives.
We opened our first alternative provision academy in Thurrock, Essex in 2015 and our second in the London Borough of Havering in September 2016. Our third academy opened in central Suffolk in June 2017.
Olive Academies also provides support packages to mainstream primary and secondary schools for those children and young people who may be at risk of exclusion. Our outreach team has extensive experience of helping schools and local authorities effectively implement strategies to prevent permanent exclusions; helping teachers and support staff to develop inclusive practice in the mainstream classroom.
