Following retirement from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, Jan founded the PSHE Association and was its first chair of trustees. She continued to be at the forefront of national developments in education contributing to curriculum reviews, government advisory groups and parliamentary committees as well as undertaking education consultancy work for national and international clients. She was awarded an OBE for services to education.
