Following an extensive and rigorous recruitment process, Olive Academies has appointed Annabel Bates as the trust’s new Director of Academies.
Annabel comes with significant expertise in the fields of inclusive practice, education leadership and curriculum design. She previously worked for United Borders, a London-based charity working with marginalised children and young people, where she developed innovative models of learning and supported school leaders within a number of pioneering organisations – including Big Education and Big Picture Learning.
Annabel originally trained as a secondary teacher of modern languages before becoming a headteacher at a large Ark secondary academy in London. She is passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences for all children and young people and has a proven track record of coaching and supporting school leaders.
Annabel Bates said, “Education has the power to address social inequality and prevent the marginalisation of excluded young people. I am delighted to be joining the team at Olive Academies and am looking forward to working with everyone at OA to shape and deliver a truly inspiring curriculum and approach to alternative provision.”
Mark Vickers, Chief Executive, Olive Academies said, “Annabel brings an authentic commitment to transforming the lives of the vulnerable children and young people our academies support. This is an important appointment for our growing Trust and I am delighted to welcome Annabel to the Olive Academies family. I know that Annabel shares our ambition to develop our academies into centres of excellence which demonstrate and share the best inclusive practice in education.”
Annabel will be working across all our academies in East London and East of England. She can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
