Olive Academies (OA) was delighted to welcome Charlie Taylor on a visit to our academy in Tilbury, Thurrock this week. Charlie Taylor, Chair of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales, has been developing the Ministry of Justice’s vision for Secure Schools. He came to see Olive AP Academy – Thurrock in action, meeting students and staff and visiting classrooms to find out more about how OA staff support young people and how we are developing opportunities for expeditionary learning at our alternative provision academies.
Mark Vickers, Chief Executive, Olive Academies said, “Charlie’s visit gave our students and staff the opportunity to demonstrate the progress, commitment, hard work and determination which can be seen in our academies on a daily basis. We were able to share our trust’s learning – both the challenges and the positive results we’ve experienced in creating and implementing an ambitious curriculum for young people who have struggled in the mainstream system.”
Charlie Taylor’s feedback from his visit was positive and encouraging – and showed how staff across the whole of our trust are working together to give students the best possible opportunities to succeed and fulfil their ambitions.
