It is with great sadness that we announce that Jo Hill has stepped down from her role as headteacher at Olive AP Academy – Thurrock (OA-Th) due to personal reasons. We wish Jo all the best for the future and thank her for all her hard work. Jo played an instrumental part in settling the academy, staff and pupils into their new building in Tilbury. She has left the academy in a stronger position, ready for its next stage of development. This work will continue under the experienced leadership of Eileen Hinds.
Eileen Hinds said, “It is a great privilege to be taking on the role of headteacher at OA-Th. I see inspiring and impressive work being produced by both staff and students in the academy on a daily basis. As headteacher I want to develop this further and see our innovative curriculum offer grow. I share OA-Th staff’s determination to improve the lives of our students, giving them the very best chance to be successful and achieve their ambitions.”
Eileen has been the Director of Academy Standards and Effectiveness for Olive Academies since 2017 and has been asked by the trust to take on the position of headteacher at OA-Th. Eileen has a varied and extensive background in education, having worked in primary, secondary and special education, as well as holding senior leader roles in three local authorities.
Mark Vickers, CEO, Olive Academies said, “Eileen has played a pivotal role in developing our trust’s alternative provision curriculum and values. Her extensive experience as a school leader means that she is perfectly placed to step into the role of headteacher at our academy in Thurrock. I look forward to seeing what she and her staff will be able to achieve at OA-Th in the coming months.”
