Mark is an experienced educational leader who is dedicated to ensuring his academy is a beacon of excellence, widely recognised across the region. Under his leadership, OA-Cambridge has earned the trust of community partners as a place where young people can get their lives back on track, achieving GCSEs, progressing to college and building aspirations for the future.
Having spent 13 years in mainstream education in Suffolk before moving into alternative provision, Mark brings a wealth of experience in relationship-building, community engagement and pastoral care. His background as both a footballer and a PE teacher has deeply influenced his approach to leadership, instilling in him a belief in teamwork, resilience and the importance of every individual feeling part of something bigger.
A proud Cantabrigian, Mark is passionate about changing pathways for vulnerable young people in his city and ensuring they have the opportunities and support needed to succeed. His ability to form strong community partnerships has opened new doors for students and positioned the academy as a trusted and respected part of the local landscape.
Believing that belonging is at the heart of success, Mark is committed to creating an environment where staff and students feel safe, valued and able to thrive. His professional goal is simple yet powerful - to be content in his role and to do it well, continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of young people every day.
