Olive Academies Foundation partnered with OA-Nene Valley (OA-NV) to host a Community to Classroom event, inviting local partners, supporters and community members to see how the academy supports young people for whom mainstream education has not been the right fit. Guests included the Mayor of Wisbech and representatives from local businesses and organisations, who toured the site, met students and heard about the academy’s inclusive, transformative work.
The event highlighted how community partnerships can create life-changing opportunities for students. By connecting education with local businesses, charities and civic leaders, the Foundation helps extend learning beyond the classroom, building confidence, employability and a sense of belonging among students.
Many young people at OA-NV arrive having struggled in traditional school environments, often lacking confidence and positive community connections. Encouraging external partners to understand their potential and engage meaningfully with the academy is key to breaking down barriers and broadening horizons.
The event strengthened local relationships and inspired new offers of support, from enrichment activities to work experience opportunities. It also gave students the chance to share their stories and achievements, reinforcing their confidence and pride.
Building lasting relationships with local businesses creates real opportunities for our students - from enrichment to employment and beyond.
