On Sunday 17 May, four colleagues from across the Olive Academies Trust will be tackling the London Monopoly Run - a 13-mile challenge through the capital, following the Monopoly board and stopping at iconic landmarks along the way.

After the very successful Giddy Horse Challenge (12-hr relay, running a combined 78 miles between the three team members), I'm delighted to sign up to the Monopoly Run.
We’re raising money for Olive Academies Foundation, which supports young people who’ve been excluded from mainstream education. The foundation funds brilliant things like residential trips, mentoring, and wellbeing activities that give young people hope, confidence and new chances in life.
As a dad, and through my work with young people, I’ve seen just how powerful those opportunities can be.

As the organiser of the Monopoly Run, I’m proud to be bringing the event back this year - bigger and better - while raising money for three incredible charities, including Olive Academies Foundation. This isn’t just a fun run; it’s about making a real difference for causes that mean a great deal to us all.
After taking our first steps last year, we’re building on that momentum to create an even more memorable experience. The route showcases some of London’s most iconic sights - from running beneath the Cheesegrater in the City and past the Lloyd’s Building, to weaving through Lincoln’s Inn Fields, along Lamb’s Conduit Street, through Covent Garden and Chinatown, and down The Mall.
For me, it’s about more than the route or the challenge - it’s about bringing people together, pushing ourselves, and raising as much as we can for charities that have a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

Balancing recovery from a long-term ankle injury caused by football, I’m taking on the Monopoly Run as a new personal challenge. I already run 5ks every weekend, so I’ll be using those as part of my training, alongside building up towards the distance. I’ve completed a half marathon in the past, which gives me something to aim towards again. My training routes take me around landmarks in Cambridgeshire, keeping things varied and motivating.
As Head of Academy at OA-Cambridge, I see first-hand the day-to-day impact Olive has on our students, and that’s what inspired me to sign up and do my part.

Taking on the Monopoly Run for a second time, I’m setting myself the challenge of going again while raising money for Olive Academies Foundation and pushing my limits even further. I’m building my training gradually, with a 10K planned for the end of April and more regular runs each week - the lighter evenings are definitely helping me stay on track.
Most of my runs are squeezed in around work, with shorter 3–5 mile sessions during the week and longer runs at the weekend to build stamina. I know motivation will be my biggest challenge, especially when it becomes a real case of mind over matter (and when trying to keep up with the proper marathon runners on the day!).
Alongside running, I mix in fitness yoga and strength training to stay balanced and injury-free - and I’ll admit I’m very much a fair-weather runner, with wind being a definite deal-breaker. But with the finish line (and a well-earned stop at the Mayfair Chippy) in sight, I’m determined to go the distance for a cause that makes a real difference to young people.
