Evelyn Trust-supported Olive Outreach programme partners with Cambridge United Foundation to support pupil wellbeing

Olive Academies Trust has announced the second stage of its innovative Cambridgeshire wellbeing initiative, generously supported by The Evelyn Trust, with a new partnership alongside Cambridge United Foundation.

Building on the successful launch of the collaborative programme, this next phase will see Cambridge United Foundation deliver specialist physical activity, wellbeing and healthy lifestyle programmes directly within Olive Academies’ partner schools across Cambridgeshire.

The wider Evelyn Trust-funded initiative brings together partners across education, health, wellbeing and community sectors to improve outcomes for Cambridgeshire’s most vulnerable children and young people. By embedding early intervention and therapeutic support within school settings, the programme aims to prevent exclusions and reduce long-term pressures on health and education services.

Through this partnership, Cambridge United Foundation will deliver structured sport, mentoring and wellbeing sessions designed to promote positive physical and mental health, build resilience, teamwork and confidence, encourage healthy lifestyle choices and strengthen engagement with education.

The collaboration will deliver work in line with the guidance of the programme’s Healthcare and Wellbeing Steering Group, made up of NHS clinicians, researchers and education leaders, ensuring that physical wellbeing, emotional health and educational engagement are addressed as part of one joined-up system of support.

Ryan Kelsall, Director of Education at Olive Academies, said:

“The second stage of this programme, supported by The Evelyn Trust, represents a powerful step forward. By working with Cambridge United Foundation, we are strengthening our commitment to a truly holistic model of support - one that recognises the vital link between physical and mental wellbeing and educational success. Together, we are creating opportunities that will have a lasting impact on young people, families and schools across Cambridgeshire.”

Running until July 2027, the overall project aims to support more than 350 children and young people and establish a sustainable, collaborative model for integrated education and wellbeing provision.
