- Inclusion: Exceptional
- Achievement: Strong
- Attendance and behaviour: Strong
- Curriculum and teaching: Strong
- Leadership and governance: Strong
- Personal development and wellbeing: Strong
The inspection report was particularly complimentary about the academy's inclusive culture and the positive difference it makes to the lives of its pupils, stating: "Inclusion is at the heart of everything that happens here"
Inspectors also recognised OA-Nene Valley's nurturing environment and the strong relationships between pupils and staff.
The report highlighted how pupils are supported to re-engage with education, developing resilience, independence and positive attitudes to learning. Inspectors also recognised that pupils attend far more regularly than they did at their previous schools and benefit from an ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum that effectively meets their complex needs.
A strong focus on pupils' futures was also recognised, with inspectors praising the academy's well-thought-through careers education, advice and guidance.
At the heart of the report was the sense of belonging experienced by pupils at OA-Nene Valley. Inspectors noted: "Pupils know that they belong here. They feel that sense of belonging."
“OA-Nene Valley becoming the first academy in the trust to be inspected under Ofsted's new framework makes these findings particularly significant for Olive Academies. To receive an 'Exceptional' judgement for Inclusion, alongside 'Strong' judgements across every other area, is powerful recognition of the academy's work and the difference our staff make to the lives of children and young people every day."
Ryan Kelsall, Director of Education at Olive Academies
OA-Nene Valley's inspection is the first of what will be a new generation of Ofsted inspections under the updated framework. The outcomes provide a detailed recognition of the academy's strengths and the impact of its work, particularly its commitment to ensuring that every pupil feels a sense of belonging and can thrive.
The academy will continue to build on the successes identified by Ofsted, ensuring that all pupils make the strongest progress possible, both academically and personally.
We would like to thank the staff, pupils, Academy Advisory Board and families at OA-Nene Valley, who all play an important role in making the academy an effective place to learn, work and succeed.
